Your First Night Aboard
Our tour guide meets you at 4:00 pm at a pre-arranged meeting point in Bordeaux and brings you to Tango where you’ll be welcomed with savory regional hors d’oeuvres and a festive flute of sparkling Première Bulle. Get acquainted with the crew who will do their best to make every moment of your cruise a memorable one. Settle into your staterooms before a candlelit welcome aboard dinner, with Bordeaux wines selected by Tango’s Grand Sommelier.

MONDAY
La Cité du Vin
Set off for a scenic cruise to la Cité du Vin where immersive, sensory exhibits, housed in a captivating architectural complex, will triple your understanding of this region’s fabled wines. Celebrate your new expertise with a dégustation in the elegant Belvedere room on the 8th floor which offers a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding landscape. Head back to the barge for lunch, and sit back and admire the scenery as we cruise along the sparkling waters of the Gironde Estuary. Dinner onboard the barge accompanied by Grand Cru wines of the Medoc region. Tango’s Grand Sommelier pairs the perfect wines to compliment Chef Daniel’s cuisine.

TUESDAY
Touring the Médoc
This is the land of the wonderous wines created in the mythic terrains of Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Margaux. Your guide will lead you through these renowned Grand Cru vineyards, extensively classified and reclassified by oenophiles. Look forward to a full day of touring and tasting, pausing only for a delicious lunch in the midst of these world-famous vineyards. Return to the barge for an evening cruise and dinner onboard.

WEDNESDAY
A UNESCO-listed Citadelle in Blaye
The Marquis de Vauban designed the Citadelle de Blaye for Louis XIV in the 1639. You’ll have a guided tour of the site, followed by a visit to a lively street market. After lunch on the Tango, cruise past picturesque fishing huts and sumptuous mansions to your evening mooring in the delightful village of Libourne. You can stroll or cycle through the town before aperitifs and dinner on the barge.

THURSDAY
Saint-Emilion
Our tour guide will whisk you past alluring chateaux to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion where wine-grapes have been cultivated since the Gallo-Roman era. Visit the 14th century Cloisters of the Collegiate Church and the shops before repairing to a noteworthy hillside domain for a tour of their wine-making facilities and a tasting. In the afternoon you will cruise towards the fairy-tale village of Bourg, once colonized by the Visigoths, and subsequently fortified under several royal reigns. Relax with dinner onboard Tango, featuring select Grand Cru St. Emilion wines.

FRIDAY
Return to Bordeaux
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before a guided walking tour of Bourg that will include the Gallo-Roman fountain, historic façades, the castle, antique shops, and a museum of horse-drawn carriages. After lunch on board, the Tango will cruise toward Bordeaux where, upon arrival, you’ll board a water-taxi to the center of this dynamic town to admire the Water Mirror reflecting pool, the 11th century Cathedral, the Neo-Classic 18th century Opera house and/or the city’s unlimited shopping opportunities. Farewell gala dinner onboard.

La Cité du Vin
Wake up to a full breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, juices, coffee and tea, before departing on a short cruise to explore how the art of winemaking has shaped the people and culture of Bordeaux at la Cité du Vin. Return to Tango to linger over lunch prepared from market-fresh, regional produce. Keep your camera handy for the afternoon’s leisurely cruise along the Gironde Estuary. You’ll pass fishing huts called carrelets, built on stilts to accommodate water levels that can vary as much as 7 meters between high and low tides. After mooring for the evening in Medoc, relax over dinner featuring fresh takes on classic French cuisine.

TUESDAY
Tour the Bassin d’Arcachon
Leave the rolling hills of wine country behind for a trip to the sparkling Atlantic seaside and Arcachon Bay. A classic French pinasse fishing vessel whisks you out across the dazzling blue waters of the estuary for up-close views of working oyster farms and the striking Dune du Pilat, a massive mountain of sugar-white sand rising above the pines. Back onshore, you’re treated to a dejeuner sur l’herbe as you enjoy the classic country pastime of picnicking, complete with a round of freshly shucked oysters. (Please note: The visit to Arcachon is good weather dependant. In case of unfavorable weather Tango’s tour guide will make alternate plans.) Head back to Tango for a cruise across the Gironde Estuary to the ancient village of Blaye, and your evening’s mooring beneath the ramparts of the UNESCO-listed citadel. Dinner is served under the canopy on deck.

In the morning, delve into the area’s centuries’ worth of history with a walking tour of Blaye. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this riverfront village features an impressive 17th-century citadel designed by the Marquis de Vauban in 1639. Next stroll through the street market and select fresh produce and fruit de mer to carry back to Tango where Chef will create a delicious paella for your lunch. Cruise to your evening mooring in the delightful village of Libourne. You can stroll or cycle through the town before aperitifs and dinner on the barge.

THURSDAY
Saint-Emilion
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before our tour guide whisks you past alluring chateaux to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion where wine-grapes have been cultivated since the Gallo-Roman era. Visit the 14th century Cloisters of the Collegiate Church and the shops. Pick up some Canelés Bordelais, a classic French pastry, before touring a winery and the caves where wine is aged. In the afternoon you will cruise towards the fairy-tale village of Bourg, once colonized by the Visigoths, and subsequently fortified under several royal reigns. Relax with dinner onboard Tango, and delicious Canelés for dessert.

FRIDAY
Return to Bordeaux
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before a guided walking tour of Bourg that will include the Gallo-Roman fountain, historic façades, the castle, antique shops, and a museum of horse-drawn carriages. After lunch on board, Tango will cruise toward Bordeaux where, upon arrival, you’ll board a water-taxi to the center of this dynamic town to admire the Water Mirror reflecting pool, the 11th century Cathedral, the Neo-Classic 18th century Opera house and/or the city’s unlimited shopping opportunities.
