About Tango – Luxury river cruises in Bordeaux wine region
Tango, built in Nancy in 1930, navigated France’s North Eastern canals until the 1950s. After that, it was used to transport grain between the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean Sea via the Canal du Midi.
Tango is a classic French péniche, 100 ft long, with 6’5” ceiling height throughout. Tango features a spacious salon with comfortable leather sofas and dining table, a sun deck with spa tub as well as a canopied dining deck, and four cabins, all with an ensuite bath. Tango offers private charter cruises for 4-8 passengers.
Built in 1931, the barge transported grain on France’s waterways until commercial barging was replaced by trucking in the 1980s. Tango was retired in a canalside town when discovered by a 13-year-old Daniel Sak. Daniel fulfilled his dream, buying the former cargo barge and transforming it into a luxurious floating hotel.
