What Our Passengers Say

What a beautiful thing the Canal du Midi is and life onboard the Tango was like living in a dream. The whole experience was top notch and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more.

"Just a note to thank you for arranging such a splendid trip for us on the Tango. Everything could not have been more perfect, including the arrangements for the high chair and crib.

"Tango is a lovely boat, and Andree and I were privileged to have occupied the Captain's cabin. The crew, of course, was fantastic, and with kids aboard, they made every possible concession for them, including amazing kid-centered meals (before ours!), and excursions including swimming. Many, many thanks. I hope the rest of your summer is as splendid as ours has been already."

Cheers, Phil Tilney

"It has been fabulous. We've dreamed of this trip for a long time and it has lived up to our dreams. Each day on the Tango has brought memorable experiences: the wine chateau "dans son jus" with moules, and Narbonne's market."

"We can't think of anything that could have made our voyage on the Canal du Midi any better. A magnificent "Tango" lovingly and well designed and expertly piloted by Daniel; the very best possible caring on board service, meals to die fo; and last but not least, the most well organised, educational and enjoyable tours possible. And our fellow passengers were the best!"

"From the moment we were picked up in the the minivan and arrived in Marseillan, it has been the most magical vacation we have ever had! We're leaving you with heavy hearts and dream of returning someday! We would love to welcome you in our evergreen city of Seattle should your travels take you there. There could be no better guide or linguist in France, we are more knowledgeable than when we left and wouid love to steal you away for Paris. The chef made every meal exquisite, the hostess, of gracious spirit, predicted our every wish. Daniel, the Tango is a beautiful vessel, thank you for turning it over to our family and making us feel so welcome, we felt like we were living a dream."

"I don't have Daniel's email or I would send this note to him but I wanted to let you know what a fabulous, once in a a lifetime kind of trip we had. Our cruise was June 19-26, 2011 from Marseillan to Carcassonne and it couldn't have been better. What a beautiful thing the Canal du Midi is and life onboard the Tango was like living in a dream. The thought and planning that goes into the trip shows in everything the crew does. The whole experience was top notch and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Many kudos to Daniel and his crew. We hope to return to the Tango some day."

"The trip we have just completed with you was indeed amazing and both Nols and I could not at any stage fault the programme or the crew - just fabulous. And as for your own performance you are truly king of the Canal du Midi and in the addition the most wonderful chef - the food was fabulous. Chris and Angie were also amazing and Chris's history really was so important to myself and the other guests. His KNOWLEDGE is truly fantastic!! See you in Australia soon?"

"Some people come into your life and stay for awhile, others pass through briefly and leave a lasting impression. Our memories of our 'Tango' on the Canal du Midi --- Wonderful Wine, Fabulous Food, Captivating Countryside. Daniel's competence (at everything!), late night conversation and patience with our stories and questions (does the water for the Canal really come from the Atlantic?!) Thanks for the fun and memories..."

"Thank you all so much for leading us on this great adventure through Languedoc. Your fine hospitality made this a vacation we will treasure always. The food, wine, history, wonderful scenery, great weather, and bike rides will all be missed. The trip has gone by in a flash and we can't believe we really must leave. Are you sure you don't need some more crew on board? Thank you again."

"With this captivating landscape unrolling like a private movie around me, each day passes by. The routine onboard is happily shaped by the rhythm of meals: late lazy breakfasts, followed by long lunches, afternoon canaps, and three course dinners, with some local cheesetasting thrown in (the cost of the trip is all inclusive - which means as much French wine tasting as desired). Sitting on a barge travelling at walking speed, a million miles from fast-paced city stresses, has to be one of the best ways to see this countryside, but a week with Canals of France also includes land-tours to some of the more intriguing local attractions. The covered food markets at the ancient roman city of Narbonne are a welcome excursion. With the food and wine flowing and the French country-side floating past, the week is over before I am ready...

"There are many barging companies that will take you along the Canal du Midi. What makes a trip with Canals of France speical is the attention to detail and the small number of guests on board."
