Canals of France Barge Tango
A Luxury Boutique Hotel Barge Cruising the Canal du Midi

Offering Private Charter Cruises for 4-8 and Individual Cabin Bookings Since 2000

Barge Tango is an authentic, luxury French canal barge. We guarantee an unforgettable barge cruise vacation along the waterways and canals of France.

A cruise on Tango means a week of relaxed luxury, gourmet cuisine, and fine regional wines. Each day you will cruise the Canal du Midi for several hours. Walk along the tow path as Tango glides down the canal, or take one of the on-board bicycles for a ride. Feeling less energetic? Take a seat on the sun deck, put your feet up, and sip a glass of wine, watching the scenery as you float by.

Tango's English-speaking tour guide escorts you on daily excursions in our air-conditioned mini-van. You'll explore the Languedoc countryside, visiting historic sites, and shopping the open air markets. Learn about viticulture at local wineries, and of course, enjoy tasting their wines!

Your fare includes all meals, as well as wines and refreshment beverages served on board. Breakfast features coffee, tea, juices, fresh bakery goods and fruits. Your on-board chef prepares lunch and dinner from the freshest local ingredients. You'll enjoy one meal ashore at a quality local restaurant of the Captains choice.

About Barge Tango

Tango is a classic 1930s French canal barge, lovingly converted into a luxury floating hotel. Rich teak paneling and brass portholes create the atmosphere of a vintage ocean liner. Skylights provide fresh air and a bright interior. The shaded dining terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy Tango's gourmet cuisine and the beautiful scenery. The terra-cotta tiled sun deck offers a space to relax in the fresh air, or have a soak in the spa tub.

Cruise Itineraries

Barge Tango Cruise Itineraries

Our week long cruises take place on two beautiful stretches of the historic Canal du Midi. In the early Spring and Fall we have chosen to stay close to the sunnier Mediterranean coast to enable the guests to enjoy more outdoor dining. This cruise takes you from the ancient Phoenician seaport town of Marseillan into the heart of the Minervois wine region, mooring in the picturesque canal village of Le Somail.

Cuisine & Wine

Barge Tango Cuisine & Wine

Cuisine served aboard Tango focuses on the rich culinary tradition of the Languedoc region. The climate provides sun ripened fruits, vegetables, olive oil and herbs, while the robust traditional fare of the Southwest offers foie gras, duck and tender lamb from the Pyrenees. A fantastic choice of fine cheeses and increasingly prominent wines from vineyards once favoured by the Romans complete each meal.
